I know it's a hassle, but I'd like to ask people here on lj whether they won't consider moving to an alternative blogging site. I use this journal largely to keep in touch with my friends and family, but I don't feel good supporting this business anymore.

Many of you are aware that LJ has seen a couple of changes of ownership recently. I haven't been happy with a lot of its recent policies, you guys have probably heard me rant about this before--for instance, Six's awful customer-service, repeated lies or obfuscations from the staff, and decision to delete incest-survivor groups while allowing the presence of open and multiply-reported pedophiles. Since being bought by the Russians, things have only gotten worse. LJ's begun censoring its popular searches to leave out such advertising-unfriendly topics as "bisexuality" and "depression". I. It's LJ's sandbox, but I don't want to support a company that censors gbtl and mentally-ill customers. That's not an ok thing, to me. I've been pissed at the way this company is being run for a long time, but this is the last straw for me.

I'm going to mirror this journal on InsaneJournal. If you do decide to move, let me know and I'll friend you there, otherwise I may set up some sort of RSS feed or something to keep up with you.

O.O S-seriously.

L-lol. You guys. Seriously, now. You leave the internet for five minutes to eat dinner and 6A sells LJ to the Russians.* I mean. WHAT?

It's like 6A went, "FINE! YOU DON'T LIKE US LYING TO YOU AND TRYING TO SCREW YOU OVER FOR EVER HIGHER AMOUNTS OF MONEY? YOU WANT TO MAKE COMPLAINTS? IN SOVIET RUSSIA, COMPLAINTS MAKE YOU!!!"

The russians. Seriously.

* The company calls itself "SUP". Like "what's up?". I cry a little, inside.

And I don't think I have to say that if you send me one of those pepsi v-gifts, I'll vomit on you.

So, sixapart. :/

I'm having a dilemma here. On the one hand, all of my friends are pretty well settled here on El jay, I'm not involved in anything (theoretically) that could get me personally banninated, and on a day to day level, Six's lying to their customers about whether paid accounts would see advertising, their unclear changes to policy complete with contradicting themselves both in word and deed along with bonus public mocking of their customers and their history of ignoring the desires of their customers, lying to their customers, and in general treating their customers like ADD-ridden six-year-olds doesn't really affect me all that much.

However, the fact that they continue to do things that are in the interests of their new corporate overlords even when they know its going to piss off their customer base and/or violate previous statments and promises they've made to their customers, and then say "Oh, our bad, we didn't mean to do that, we have communication problems, let's work through things", only to turn around and do the same things over and over again the minute people stop being pissed... kind of makes me go "well fuck you TOO." Cause... um, do I really want to pay a company to act like an abusive boyfriend? Like I keep telling michael, if I wanted someone to treat me with absolute contempt, I'm a cute girl: I don't have to pay for that shit. I can go down to the bar and get that for free. WITH drinks.

So I guess what I'm asking is what you guys think an appropriate response would be. Does switching to, say, IJ sound enticing to anyone? Is staying here but mirroring my journal at a different site as well a better option? Should I keep this journal but let it lapse back to a free account and just put up with the adds, since a paid account no longer keeps them off anyway? (I know you're not all icon ho's like me, but in case anyone's interested, you know how LJ free accounts get, like... six icons or whatever? IJ free accounts get 100. Just sayin.)Should I delete this journal entirely to stop providing content to a site whose business practices I find so repulsive (well, I'd probably mirror it somewhere first, but it just wouldn't be here anymore.)

Also, just as a heads up, I'm probably going to delete my art journal, or at least a large percentage of what gets posted there. So much of it is fanart that... even without it being sexually explicit, I just don't feel comfortable having it on as unfriendly a site as LJ anymore. :/ And anyway, most of the fandom people whose work I follow are leaving too, as fed up with LJ as I am, so.

Also also, in case anyone missed it, there is music upload here, which people are more than welcome to.
